Privacy Controls

Private Album keeps most privacy controls close to iOS settings and the local app data on your device.

Use these choices to decide what the app can access and how long private data stays on your device.

Photos access

  • Open iOS Settings, choose Private Album, then change Photos access.
  • Use limited access if you only want the app to see selected items.
  • Remove access at any time from iOS Settings.

Face ID and Touch ID

  • Manage biometric access in iOS Settings.
  • If you disable biometric unlock, use the app passcode instead.
  • Biometric templates stay with iOS and are not shared with the app.

iCloud originals

  • If Photos stores originals in iCloud, selected items may need to download before import.
  • You can choose media that is already stored locally to avoid an iCloud prompt.
  • Manage iCloud Photos from iOS Settings.

Browser data

  • The built-in browser opens websites you choose.
  • Third-party websites may use their own cookies, tracking, or login flows.
  • Clear browser-related data in the app if you no longer need it.

Local backup files

  • Create backups only when you need to move or preserve data.
  • Store backup files securely, because they may contain private album data.
  • Delete old backups when they are no longer needed.

Delete private data

  • Delete individual items inside the app when you no longer need them.
  • Deleting the app from iOS may remove local vault data.
  • Back up before deleting the app if you intend to restore later.
